The large objective lens supports excellent detail recognition at long distances, while the 24–60x magnification range allows precise observation across a wide variety of situations. The straight viewing design enables particularly fast target acquisition and supports efficient scanning of large areas, especially during open-country and mountain hunting.
The ZEISS Conquest Apia 24-60×85 Spotting Scope (Straight) balances high-magnification observation with portability and comfortable handling. Its 24-60x zoom provides flexibility for locating subjects and examining finer details at a distance, while the 85mm objective and carefully developed optical system support clear viewing when available light becomes more challenging.
24-60x zoom for detection and identification
The 2.5x zoom range is designed to provide a practical balance between magnification, field of view and overall scope size. At 24x, the wider view makes it easier to scan an area and locate wildlife before increasing the magnification towards 60x to examine distinguishing details at greater distances.
85mm objective with high light transmission
The 85mm objective is paired with an optical system capable of up to 85% light transmission in the straight model. This helps maintain a bright image in lower-light conditions, making the scope well suited to observation across changing daylight conditions.
ZEISS HD optical system
The Conquest Apia uses the ZEISS HD optical concept, combining selected glass types, Extra-Low-Dispersion glass, aspheric lenses and precision optical manufacturing. The system is designed to reduce chromatic aberration while delivering detailed, high-resolution views throughout the magnification range.
Edge-to-edge image sharpness
ZEISS FieldFlattener Technology is used to maintain resolution across the field of view rather than concentrating sharpness towards the centre of the image. This provides a more consistent view when scanning larger scenes or following wildlife through the scope.
ZEISS T* and LotuTec coatings
ZEISS T* multi-coating is applied to optimise brightness, while the roof prism system uses multi-layer coatings and phase correction to improve clarity and resolution. On exposed lens surfaces, the hydrophobic ZEISS LotuTec coating encourages water to bead away and reduces the tendency for dirt and fingerprints to adhere.
Comfortable viewing across the zoom range
The eyepiece has been developed to provide an immersive viewing experience from the lowest through to the highest magnification. Its optical design considers exit pupil, subjective viewing angle and eye relief to support comfortable observation over extended periods, including when tracking a subject for longer sessions.
Fast and precise focusing
The focus wheel requires approximately 1.2 turns from close focus to infinity, combining quick adjustment with the control needed for precise focusing. Its position ahead of the tripod foot provides clear access, while the raised focus and zoom controls are shaped for secure operation, including when wearing gloves.
Quick zoom adjustment
The zoom wheel moves from minimum to maximum magnification in approximately 0.3 turns, allowing rapid changes when a subject moves or additional detail is required. A removable throw lever is included to assist zoom operation and can be configured for right- or left-handed use.
Straight design for transport and observation
This straight version uses a minimalist tripod base intended to keep the scope convenient to carry and pack. Unlike the fixed tripod base used on angled versions, the straight model uses a removable tripod adapter, providing a compact configuration when the adapter is not required.
Arca-Swiss tripod compatibility
The removable adapter provides an Arca-Swiss connection for straightforward attachment to compatible tripod equipment. This gives users the option of stable tripod-supported observation while retaining the more streamlined base of the straight spotting scope for transport.
Built for demanding outdoor use
The Conquest Apia is designed to be durable, waterproof, fogproof, shockproof, temperature-resistant, and resistant to UV light. Lightweight materials including aluminium and magnesium contribute to its balance of portability and strength, while protective rubber armouring provides additional grip and protection during outdoor use.
Compact optical and mechanical design
ZEISS has reduced distances between optical elements and incorporated aspheric lenses to help control the overall dimensions of the scope. The mechanical construction follows the same approach, using a slim tripod interface and lightweight components to make the 85mm model easier to transport without sacrificing its large-objective viewing benefits.
