Your first image in four steps on a Vaonis Atlas
Set Atlas down and level it: the accelerometer and the LED ring guide you. Connect over NFC or the built-in Wi-Fi, in a few seconds. Launch the Gaia app: Atlas aligns itself and Sky Guard shows your whole sky, from horizon to horizon. Select your target in the Sky Guard view: Atlas orients itself, tracks, focuses and stacks exposures; the image reveals itself live, for you and up to ten other connected screens.Atlas is a smart telescope: optics, camera, motorized mount and automatic pointing in a single instrument controlled from your smartphone. The deep-sky image builds in color on your screen, minute after minute, revealing details impossible to see with the naked eye, even through a very large telescope.
The Sky Guard camera films your whole sky, from horizon to horizon, day and night, and shows the stars as the naked eye would. Tap a galaxy, a nebula or the Moon: Atlas points to it, tracks it and builds the image. The dynamic, interactive sky map adapts to your real surroundings: discover the constellations visible tonight with Sky Guard and build your knowledge of the sky. Up to ten people can follow the observation on their own phones.
The Atlas mount is guaranteed for 10 years and built for all your explorations. The 80 mm imaging module clips onto it in five seconds through the Sky Dock interface, no tools. When you want to go further, add a second module: with Sky Twin, Atlas collects twice the light and reaches the same result in half the time. More modules will follow, starting with a planetary module.
The 80 mm module is a four-lens apochromatic refractor with no mirror, whose sharpness reaches the physical limit from the center to the edges of the image. Its back-illuminated Sony IMX585 sensor (8.3 MP, 2.9 µm pixels, up to 24 MP mosaics) is built for faint signal. The result: pinpoint stars and faithful colors, in the city as in the countryside.
Is Atlas right for me?
I’m a beginner
Atlas requires no prior knowledge: the app guides you through leveling, then handles everything, alignment, pointing, focus and tracking. You pick an object on the screen and watch the image build up.
I observe from the city
Atlas delivers excellent results even under a bright sky: it stacks and processes exposures to bring out galaxies and nebulae where the eye sees only a few stars. For even faster results, slide a light-pollution filter into the filter drawer.
I want to go further
Atlas grows with you: raw images you can export for your own processing, acquisitions resumed over several nights, filters, and a second module to halve the time spent on the faintest objects.
