Our Description
Maksutov Cassegrains above this aperture become too problematic with cool-down time. From a warm house to the cold outside, allow approx. 1.5 hours for all signs of lower order spherical aberration to disappear. Usable for general observing after about 45 minutes. Once cooled the lunar/planetary images are excellent. Will give very satisfying images of condensed deep-sky objects. Great for planetary video imaging, the 2700mm focal length providing the image scale required.

Tips
Budget for a neutral density 1.25″ filter or Baader polariser set for the moon, a Baader UHC and OIII filter and a dew shield.
With any Cassegrain telescope you will have to consider the affect dew fall. The cheapest solution is a lens hood but when dew is a real problem then heater straps will evaporate dew off.
