Our view

Important notice regarding the use of these Powertanks.

These Powertanks use lead acid batteries of a similar type as those used as car batteries. As such it is important that they are kept charged up. It is best to re-charge your Powertank after every use by leaving it on charge until the Charged light comes on. If these batteries are left to lose voltage over a period of time without re-charging, they can become difficult to re-charge again. The trickle charger supplied with each Powertank is only intended to charge from around 10v upwards. Anything lower than this may require the use of a deep charger, or may become too low voltage to charge up again. Please note that a Powertank that has had its voltage level allowed to drop without charge, to a level where it becomes impossible to re-charge, is not considered a warranty fault. Please refrain from using the 15v charger to directly power a telescope or appliance requiring less than 15v.
A fully charged idle Powertank should show (on a voltmeter), a passive voltage of about 13.8v.
Please note that if a telescope mount plus a dew heater are powered simultaneously from a Powertank, the stated amp hour will be considerably less for one full charge.
