Optical Tube Assembly (OTA)
The optical tube assembly (OTA) of a telescope is the part you look through and magnifies the image. An OTA will need a mount and/or tripod. Mounts normally have a universal fitting that will accept many different OTA. OTAs are available in any of the common designs – refractor, Newtonian reflector or cassegrain. An OTA may also be bought as a replacement or spare part.
