Acuter Voyager Mak 80 Fast Maksutov Cassegrain OTA 10985
£189.00 VAT inc
The new ACUTER VOYAGER MAK 80 FAST is a powerful Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope with 80mm aperture. This compact and easily transportable telescope is ideal for observing and learning about the night sky. Unfortunately small & powerful telescopes are not “bright”. This is hampered still by a 40mm eyepiece not being included – we recommend this & a moon filter (below)

Since the image is upright and fully corrected, you can also observe nature during the daytime. The optical system is multi-coated to maximise contrast and image sharpness. You can also capture images using your own smartphone using the included smartphone camera adaptor.
The FAST designation in the name is due to the patent-pending friction drive focuser. Instead of having a focusing knob that is twisted, which is common on Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes, it is equipped with a friction driven focuser with dual focus knobs (patent pending design) which moves the primary mirror to achieve focus. In addition there is an immensely helpful focus position indicator scale that shows the position the focuser needs to be to view objects at distances of 8m, 17m and infinity. This focuser design truly enables FAST focusing to be achieved with the minimum of fuss.
The set consists of an 80mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope OTA with 850mm focal length, 42.5x and 68x magnifying eyepieces with a wide 70 degree apparent field of view, an optical 6×21 viewfinder, a particularly high-quality, phase-corrected 90° image-erecting roof prism diagonal, a smartphone camera adaptor, to keep a photographic record of your observations, and a carrying case. The set comes in an attractive gift box. The telescope can be expanded as required with optionally available standard 1.25 “telescope eyepieces to increase the range of magnifications.
The telescope can be mounted via the standard 1/4″ tripod thread on any photographic tripod. Mounting is also possible on astronomical mountings via the 45mm Vixen/Sky-Watcher dovetail bar.
The Maksutov telescope is named after Dmitri Maksutov (1896-1964), a Russian optician and astronomer who introduced this telescope design in 1941.
