Our Description

These high-end telescopes all feature a doublet objective lens. One element is made from premium Japanese Ohara FPL-53 Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass, which virtually eliminates chromatic aberration to deliver true colour reproduction. Top quality Schott glass is utilized for the Crown element.
Each air-to-glass lens surface has exotic anti-reflection metallic coatings applied, to ensure optimum light through-put of approaching 99.5%!!
The proprietary Sky-Watcher “Metallic High-Transmission Coatings” (MHC) are the finest photon anti-rejection coatings in their class.

Our view

A high quality low dispersion 80mm doublet refractor that can be used successfully for observing and imaging. As a low and medium magnification instrument with very low levels of secondary spectrum, this little refractor is the ideal compact rapid use telescope for those times when set-up and cool down time is very limited. This scope is light enough for mounting as a luxury guidescope on top of a larger instrument, or even as a parallel low power rich field telescope. As a small aperture telescope, magnification levels used can be up to the maximum of about 1.5X per millimetre of aperture, due to much lower effects of seeing conditions on small apertures.


An ideal small white light solar telescope with the addition of full aperture Astrosolar filter. For deep-sky observing of emission and planetary nebulae within a light polluted area, its best to avoid the normal UHC and OIII filters as these filters work better with larger apertures. The amount of light they block leaves a dark image in an 80mm aperture scope. Choose a standard broader band LPR filter or a Neodymium Skyglow filter. Try attaching this scope to a sturdy camera tripod for use as a spotting scope, its optical performance will embarrass many more expensive spotting scopes.
