The largest aperture of the CPC Deluxe HD series, the CPC Deluxe 1100 HD telescope has the most light-gathering power; almost 90% more than the 8″ model and over 40% more than the 9.25″. And best of all, the CPC Deluxe 1100 HD combines Celestron’s newly designed fork mount with its superior EdgeHD optical system.
New optical design, advanced features and GOTO accuracy. You get the picture.
With sophisticated software features like the Hibernate function, the CPC can maintain its star alignment night after night without needing to be re-aligned, making it an ideal instrument for a permanent observatory facility. Even with an aperture of over 1500 times the light gathering power than the unaided eye, the CPC Deluxe Series is still one of Celestron’s most portable astronomical telescopes. With its conveniently located carrying handles and an instrument weight of 66 lbs, this telescope is portable enough to setup in your backyard or take with you to your favorite dark sky location. The CPC Deluxe 1100 HD is at home as a superb visual instrument or with optional Pro Wedge and CCD cameras, as a serious astro imager’s tool. Turn this scope to planets and see amazing detail on the surface of Jupiter; see Cassini’s Division in the rings of Saturn, and resolve details on the surface of Mars and even distant globular clusters.
New Optical Design The EdgeHD optical system combines all the compact power popularized by the SCT with an improved high definition optical system for wide field, astrograph quality images. As a visual instrument, EdgeHD optics deliver pinpoint images, even with your widest field eyepiece. You can search for all of the Messier Catalog objects and see hundreds of other NGC, IC and Caldwell objects with amazing clarity. For astro imaging, EdgeHD optics produce aberration-free images across your favorite CCD or DSLR camera. All EdgeHD optics are designed to produce an extremely flat focal plane precise enough to match the strict tolerances of the largest commercial CCD detectors, allowing stars to be in tight focus to the very edge of the chip. Learn more about the benefits and features of this new optical system by going to the EdgeHD web page.
Internal GPS The CPC Series’ internal GPS receiver automatically downloads the date and time from orbiting satellites and pinpoints its exact location on Earth. This eliminates the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude and latitude.
Celestron’s Revolutionary SkyAlign Once the CPC’s internal GPS has established the telescope’s position, aligning the telescope is as easy as 1-2-3! Simply locate and use the hand control to manually point (slew) the telescope to three bright celestial objects. You do not need to know the names of the stars and you may even pick the Moon or bright planets! Celestron’s NexStar™ software technology will model the night sky to determine the position of every star, planet and celestial object above the horizon. Once aligned, the remote hand control allows direct access to each of the celestial catalogs in its user-friendly database.
Celestial Object Database The CPC Deluxe HD database contains over 40,000 celestial objects including Messier objects, the Caldwell Catalog, NGC Galaxies, nebulae and planets. User-definable filter limits make navigating through this expansive database quicker and easier. Filter Limits let you filter out objects that are outside of your local horizon (ie, if trees or mountains were in the way). There’s also “Solar Sys Align” that lets you align on the Sun or Moon for daytime observing — it is easy to use this to see planets or bright stars in the day.
Fastar Versatility All EdgeHD optical tubes are equipped with a removable secondary mirror for fast f/2 CCD imaging. Not only does imaging in the FASTAR configuration allow for exposure times that are 25 times faster than at f/10, but also yields a field of view five times wider. A perfect combination for imaging your favorite wide field objects in a fraction of the time. (FASTAR imaging requires a third party lens assembly in place of the secondary mirror).
Luminos Eyepiece CPC Deluxe 1100 HD comes with Celestron’s top of the line, wide field eyepiece. With a 23 mm focal length and 82° AFOV, you get an incredible combination of power and wide field of view. Plus each Luminos eyepiece is optimized to deliver pin point images when used with a flat field telescope.
Design – With the introduction of the CPC Deluxe HD series, Celestron has gone back to the drawing board and re-designed and re-engineered the drive train with a larger 6 inch, 180 tooth brass gear and .75″ stainless steel worm gear and unique roller bearing design with both steel and nylon ball bearings rotating around a wide 9.8 track designed for smoother tracking accuracy for long exposure astro imaging.
Innovation – The CPC Deluxe HD series uses the innovative All-Star™ Polar alignment procedure. Coupled with Celestron’s optional Pro Wedge, All-Star allows users to choose any bright star, while the software calculates and assists with polar alignment. Another great feature of the CPC sure to please astro imagers, is the Permanent Periodic Error Correction (PEC), which allows users to train out the worm gear’s periodic errors, while the mount retains the PEC recordings.
Power Management – Redesigned electronics deliver constant regulated power to the motors making them capable of driving the telescope, even when not perfectly balanced, without sacrificing smooth tracking motion and pointing accuracy across the entire sky.
Performance – For objects near the meridian (imaginary line passing from North to South), the CPC will track continuously through the meridian for uninterrupted imaging through the most ideal part of the sky.

At last, Celestron have produced the Edge HD SCTs in fork mounted format. The Edge HD optics differ from the standard SCT optics in that they are corrected for off-axis coma and have a flat focal plane for astrophotography. This is achieved by correcting lenses in the primary baffle tube. The benefit of this design is a coma-free image over an entire 35mm detector format. So, a digital SLR with a full 35mm detector will have coma-free images with a flat field. Visually, the flat focal plane is not realised as the retina of the eye is curved, not to mention any off-axis aberrations an eyepiece may introduce. However, the edge of the field visually is noticeably improved compared to the standard f/10 SCT. For astrophotography, the coma-free image on the camera detector not only provides sharper star images at the edge of the field, but permits the detection of slightly fainter deep-sky objects toward the field edge, as there is greater image sharpness on images of extended objects as well as point images. Coma destroys image quality regardless of geometric shape. This has enormous benefits for lunar photography and observation, as lunar detail is much sharper toward the edge of the field of an eyepiece, and less photographic images are required to make a mosaic for a large file size lunar image. There is little benefit to an Edge HD over a standard SCT for planetary imaging as a planet is within the diffraction limited field of a standard SCT anyway. Terrestrially, the Edge HD telescopes can be used successfully for distance observation where a wide-field image of excellent edge sharpness is required. Terrestrial photography benefits from the Edge HD design, but not as much as visual, because the optical design relies on the telescope being focused at infinity in order to be coma-free and have a flat focal plane. As you focus closer the flat field correction is increasingly lost. The CPC Edge HD telescope are the ultimate compact observation and photographic instruments because of the off-axis corrections and apertures of 8″, 9.25″ and 11″. The CPC800 Edge HD is the smallest of the three, and the least expensive way of obtaining a complete GOTO telescope with these optical benefits. For astrophotography, there are separate t-adapters for the Edge HD scopes that place a camera at the correct distance from the rear of the telescope. The CPC925 Edge HD is the model to choose if more aperture over the 8″ Edge HD is required but without the weight of a large telescope. The CPC1100 Edge HD is arguably the ultimate complete observing instrument. It has all the optical benefits of an aplanatic system, a flat focal plane, plus a large aperture, a fully functional alt-azimuth GOTO mount with the most popular GOTO system (Celestron Nexstar) on the market, all in a compact size, and manageable by one person. Celestron include with the CPC1100 Edge HD a 2″ mirror star diagonal and a 23mm 2″ Luminos eyepiece with an apparent field of 82o. With this telescope, this eyepiece gives an image magnification of 122X, with a coma-free 82o field – a deep-sky observer’s dream! For astrophotography, there are separate t-adapters for the Edge HD scopes that place a camera at the correct distance from the rear of the telescope.
